TAMPA, Fla. — A double stabbing involving University of South Florida students has prompted a major investigation in Tampa after authorities confirmed that the suspected attacker was later found dead in a separate incident.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), deputies responded at approximately 4:26 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, after receiving a 911 call from a man who reported that he and another individual had been stabbed at an apartment complex on North 46th Street near the University of South Florida campus. Both victims were transported for medical treatment and were reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators identified all individuals involved and later confirmed that the suspect and one of the victims were students at the University of South Florida. Authorities have not publicly released the names of those involved.

Hours after the stabbing, deputies launched a separate death investigation at the Union on Fletcher apartment complex, located at 3600 E. Fletcher Avenue in Tampa. Detectives believe the person found dead at that location was the suspected attacker connected to the earlier stabbing incident.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office stated that all individuals involved in the incident have been identified and accounted for. Investigators continue to work to determine the circumstances that led to the violence and the subsequent death investigation. No additional suspects are being sought at this time.

The incident has generated concern throughout the USF community, where students, faculty, and residents are awaiting further details from law enforcement. University officials have not yet released a detailed statement regarding the identities of the individuals involved, though authorities have confirmed that at least two of the parties connected to the case were affiliated with the university.

As detectives continue processing evidence and interviewing witnesses, authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional information is expected to be released as authorities continue to establish a timeline of events and determine what led to the stabbing and subsequent death.
